Style Guide

As with an Wiki, the quality of these pages depends on the etiquette of the people who use it. All of the rules that apply to other Wikis should also by used here.

FIXME Link to an etiquette reference.

The most important rule for this site is: do your homework. I want the information here to be useful and accurate. Don’t write anything “off the top of your head”, and never guess.

There are namespaces suitable for most articles. You should not have to create any more. All pages related to Thief 2, should go in the thief2 namespace. Anything about Dromed in the dromed namespace. There are special reference categories in the dromed namespace for properties, links, scripts, etc. Pages in these namespaces must be given the same name (or as close as can be) to what they reference. The titles of reference pages must be the common name as you would see it in Dromed.

Every page must start with a H1 heading. That’s six ‘=’ around the title.

Temporary or out-of-bounds additions must be in a quote block. You should also begin the block with an icon: FIXME, DELETEME, NOTEME are useful.

This Wiki has a glossary; use it. Keep the entries alphabetical when editing it, as well.

Always check the spelling of your additions. You will probably want to add words like “metaproperty” to your browser’s dictionary.

Some of the technical words are not written consistently on other websites or tutorials. The recommended spellings for this Wiki are:

  • Dromed (Only first letter capitalized.)
  • metaproperty
  • multi-brush
  • gamesys (Do not capitalize the “S”.)
  • qvar or Qvar (This will be tagged as an acronym.)
  • pseudo-script

Titles of games are underlined. Names of interface widgets and file names are monospaced. Symbolic names (objects, links, scripts) are also monospaced. Input fields and names of variables should be both monospaced and underlined. Sample input text should be italicized.

Titles of games are __underlined__. Names of interface widgets and file names are ''monospaced''.
Symbolic names (objects, links, scripts) are also ``monospaced``. Input fields and names of
variables should be both $$monospaced and underlined$$. Sample input text should be ??italicized??.
